Admission process/ how to enroll 

 

Bi-Annual Batches

 

Every year, two batches will be formed for each of the programs as follows:

 

·         Winter Program: Program starting October of the year

·         Fall Program: Program starting April of the year

 

Admission Requirements

 

Minimum Requirements for the Programs

 

Talk School offers programs for the following:

 

·     Students undergoing graduation or post graduation in any discipline who want to add a professional qualification and enhance their employability after completion of the graduation or post graduation

·     Candidates who have completed graduation or post-graduation in any discipline and want to take a professional course, so that they can take up a job after completion of the same.

·     Working professionals who want to enhance their prospects in a particular area or who want to make a career shift in a different area of specialization

 

Equivalent Admission Requirements

 

If you attended a postsecondary institution in another country, you must prove that your educational standing is equivalent to the academic admission requirements.

 

Since Talk School programs are about seeking specialization in a professional field, weights are assigned to graduate, post graduate, voluntary work experience holders and working professionals in that order.

 

English Language Proficiency Policy

 

All activities (lectures, seminars, laboratories) at Talk School are conducted in English. It is essential that all students possess the writing and speaking skills necessary to cope with the rigors of the curriculum and successfully complete the work placement components of the programs. Therefore, if your first language is not English, or if your previous education has been conducted in another language, you will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English and fulfil the English admission requirement.

 

Students may be referred to our English upgrading program to improve their language skills before being admitted to the program of their choice.

 

Industry Internship

 

Talk School facilitates internship (working opportunity) with its partner corporate organizations for interested students with the following pre-condition:

 

·     Candidates are in the final year of their degree course (graduation or post graduation)

·     Candidates must be willing to take up a job immediately after completion of the internship

·     Candidates do not expect any salary or compensation during their internship

·     Candidates are willing to comply with the rules and regulations of the organization they are assigned to during the tenure of their internship

 

Scholarships and fee assistance is available to exceptional students from weak economic backgrounds

 

Selection Procedure

 

Requirements vary from program to program. Selection criteria may be based on any combination of the following:

  • recommendation from your college where you are studying currently
  • a review of the applicant's academic record;
  • a review of any additional documentation submitted to support the application and required by the program (i.e. resumé);
  • the results of an interview, an audition, a test, a questionnaire;
  • a review of a portfolio;
  • any other criteria relevant to the program.

 

How to Apply

 

Step 1

Review the program information and admission requirements outlined in this publication. It is important that applicants are enrolled in or are completing the required courses needed for admission. If applying as a mature student, applicants should begin to collect any educational documents and review the course content.

 

Step 2

Procure an admission form, either by downloading it from the website (download the pdf form here), or requesting it by post, or by buying it from your college/ institute (relevant for students applying from partner institutes. See the list of our partner institutes here). Fill the form, and attach copies of all the relevant certificates and/ or documents.

 

Step 3

Submit your completed application along with the processing fees of Rs. 1000/- through a demand draft in favour of:

 

·     Your college, if you belong to one of our partner institutions (See the list of our partner institutes here)

·     ‘Talk School of Communication & Media Studies’ payable at Delhi in case of other students.

 

Talk School would courier you an acknowledgement of receipt of your application.

 

We may need to contact you throughout the admissions process. It is important that applicants keep their contact information up to date.

 

Step 4

Shortlisted candidates will be intimated via an email

 

Step 5

Selected candidates would need to submit fees as per the following schedule:

 

·     50% of the course fees is payable immediately

·     Balance 50% of the course fees is payable after completion of the first month of the course

 

Dates to Remember

 

For Winter Program 2009 Applications

 

·         Last date for filling admission forms is August 1, 2009

·         Last date for desposit of fees is September 1, 2009

 

 

For Fall Program 2009 Applications

 

·     Last date for filling admission forms is February 1, 2009

·     Last date for deposit of fees is March 1, 2009

 

Notification of Admission Decisions (approval, regret and wait list status)

 

Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation dates and fee due dates vary depending on the approval date. Applicants should check their documentation closely. Late confirmations and payments will only be accepted if space is available in the program.

 

Applicants placed on a wait list will be advised in writing through email. As seats become available, applicants on the wait list will be notified. Those remaining on a wait list must re-apply to the program the following session and repeat all components of the admission process for that program.

 

Disclosure of Personal Information & Verification

 

It is critical that candidates provide accurate personal information, while applying. Talk School reserves the right to get the information verified through its internal sources, or external agencies including a Police Verification of the background of the candidate. Acceptance to apply would mean that the candidate is prepared to undergo such verification(s). Talk School reserves the right to deny admission or withdraw a student from a program based on an unpardoned criminal record bearing relevance to the academic or field placement requirements of the program.

 

At any stage of the program if it is found that the information provided was inaccurate or misleading, the enrollment of the student will be cancelled, and the entire fee payable would be forfeited without any refund.
